How do I close or reopen a form?

Stop a form from accepting new responses, then reopen it when you are ready.

When you no longer want to collect responses, you can close a form. Closing is reversible and never deletes the responses you have already collected.

Close a form

  1. Open the form in the builder.
  2. Click Close form in the top actions.
  3. Confirm in the dialog. Closing stops the form from accepting new responses.

Closing a form keeps all existing responses — they remain available on the Responses tab. Only new submissions are blocked.

Reopen a form

Closing is reversible. To start accepting responses again, Re-publish the form from the builder. Its public link becomes live again.

Form statuses

A form's status appears in the Forms list:

  • Draft — being built; not accepting responses.
  • Published — live and accepting responses.
  • Closed — not accepting new responses (re-publish to reopen).
  • Archived — set aside; not accepting responses.

Prefer the form to close on a date rather than manually? Set a Closes at time under Settings → Schedule and it will stop accepting responses automatically. See Form settings.
