What are Forms?
A standalone tool for collecting responses — not signatures — with fields, logic, and exports.
Forms is an intake-form builder and collector. You design a form with the fields you need, share it with a link (or embed it), and every submission is recorded so you can review and export the answers.
How Forms is different from signature requests
Forms is grouped under e-signing in the sidebar, but it is a separate tool:
- A form collects responses (typed answers, choices, uploads), not legally signed documents.
- There is no form-to-envelope conversion — a response never becomes a signature request.
- A form's Signature field simply captures a typed full name, so respondents can "sign" their answer. It is not the same as signing an envelope.
If you need a legally binding signature on a document, use Envelopes instead. Use Forms when you want to gather information from many people.
What you can do with a form
- Build multi-page forms from a range of field types — text, choices, dates, file uploads, and more.
- Add conditional logic to show or hide fields, make fields required, or jump to another page.
- Control when the form accepts responses with a schedule and a response quota.
- Get notified on each submission, and send respondents an autoresponder.
- Share the form as a public link, private single-use links, an embed, or a QR code.
- View every response in the app and export them to CSV or XLSX.
Public forms — where anyone with the link can respond — require the paid public forms entitlement. Without it you can still create forms and use private single-use links, but the public link will be blocked and you will see an upgrade tag on the Forms list.
