How do I set the signing order?
Send to all recipients at once, or require them to sign one after another in a set sequence.
By default, everyone you add to an envelope can sign at the same time. If you need people to sign in a particular sequence — for example, an employee before a manager — you can turn on a signing order.
Parallel vs sequential
- Parallel (default) — the Set signing order checkbox is off. All recipients are notified at once and can sign in any order.
- Sequential — turn Set signing order on. Recipients are notified one at a time, and each person is only invited once the previous signer has finished.
Turn on a signing order
- In the Recipients section of Step 1, tick the Set signing order checkbox.
- Numbered badges appear next to each recipient showing the current order.
- Drag the recipients to reorder them until the sequence is correct.
With a signing order in place, only the current signer can act at any given time. Reminders also apply only to the person whose turn it is.
Receives a copy recipients are not part of the signing sequence — they get the finished document once signing is complete.
How do I add recipients and choose their roles?
Add each recipient with a role, name, and email, and pick whether they sign, sign in person, or receive a copy.
What fields can I place, and how do I assign them to signers?
Place signature, text, date, and other fields on your documents and assign each one to a recipient.
