How do I share a completed envelope with someone outside my company?

Send a copy-only link of a finished envelope to an external contact.

When an envelope is Completed, you can send a copy to someone outside your company — such as a client's accountant or a third party who needs a record. They receive a secure download link and nothing more; they can't edit or act on the envelope.

Share externally

  1. Find the Completed envelope in your list. This option only appears once signing is finished.
  2. Open the row ⋮ menu and choose Share the Envelope.
  3. Fill in the recipient's details:
    • Full Name (required)
    • Email Address (required)
    • Role (optional)
  4. Confirm. They'll receive an email with a secure download link to a copy of the envelope.

This sends a copy only. The external recipient can download the signed document but cannot sign, edit, or otherwise change the envelope.

Sharing with a colleague instead?

To let someone in your own company work on an envelope, use Share with team instead — that grants full access rather than a download-only copy.
