How do I import contacts from CSV?
Bring in many contacts at once using the guided CSV import wizard.
If you already have your contacts in a spreadsheet, you can bring them all in at once with the CSV import wizard instead of adding them one by one.
Run the import wizard
- Go to Contacts and open the import wizard at /contacts/import.
- Upload — select your CSV file.
- Map — match your CSV columns to contact fields.
- Review — check the mapped data before importing.
- Progress — the import runs and shows its progress.
- Results — see which rows imported and which had problems.
The importer accepts CSV files only. Export your spreadsheet to CSV first if it is in another format.
Automatic column mapping
The wizard automatically maps common columns so you have less to do by hand. It recognises first_name, surname, email, and contact_number (along with common aliases), as well as the slugs of your existing custom fields.
Name your spreadsheet columns to match the built-in fields — for example email and first_name — so the wizard maps them automatically. You can adjust any mapping in the Map step.
Row-by-row validation
Each row is validated as it imports. The Results step shows which rows succeeded and which were skipped or flagged, so you can fix any problem rows and re-import just those.
